After school sports teams are organized throughout the year by the school district's Beyond The Bell / Youth Services (YS) program.

Students in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades can try out for the teams. Participation is free of charge for participants,
although around $10-$20 will be asked in order to get jerseys for the players.

Teams are coached by the YS yard supervisors and Parent Volunteers. The YS coach serves as the head coach in game play. For more information in helping coach a team, please approach the YS staff on the main play yard after school each day, or contact Dave at dave@shermanoaksparents.com.

Competitions and tournaments against other local elementary schools are organized, with successful teams moving on to further tournaments involving schools from all of Los Angeles.

Sherman Oaks Elementary is proud of their young student-athletes. Over the past several years, our teams have enjoyed tremendous success, especially on the flag football field and basketball courts.
